So you are thinking of relocating to Livonia Michigan. I myself lived in Livonia for over 22 years. My wife and I raised our son there. It was a great place to raise a family. I only moved from there because I lost my wife Marianne to breast cancer back in 2010. Otherwise I probably be still living there.
So what can I tell you about your Livonia relocation? How does Livonia compare to the surrounding communites? The City of Livonia is so centrally located. You are less than a half an hour to Metro Airport. So if you have to fly out often you will love living in Livonia. I-96 and I -275 cut through the city. You can get east, west, north, south from these two expressways and Telegraph Road is only a few miles away too. The ease of getting to downtown Detroit, Ann Arbor or anywhere in Metro Detroit makes living here great.
The other great thing about moving to the City of Livonia is the simplicity of having everything around you. Where ever you are from you will love that there are so many stores, banks, doctors, dentists, places Laurel Park Place Livonia Mi of worship, and restaurants nearby. Within 10 to 20 minutes you have 3 different major malls to satisfy any avid shopper. Along Haggerty Road between 5 Mile Rd and 9 Mile Rd I call it restaurant row. What ever you are craving it there is a restaurant. From Chinese, to sushi, to steaks, to fish they have a restaurant near Livonia.
The one negative I hear about the City of Livonia is that it has no central downtown. It was a farming community and never had an old downtown like some of the other nearby cities like Northville, Plymouth, or Farmington. Those three cities are just a ten minute ride so you can drive there to get your fix.
For Livonia relocation buyers you will be glad to learn that Livonia schools are good schools. Competitive sports teams, dedicated teachers, and parents that care about their kids make the school system one of the best in the area. The school board strives to make the schools better for the students each and every year.
When I lived in Livonia we left our doors unlocked sometimes. We had no fear of taking evening walks. The only time we had something stolen was when we left our car unlocked. That was probably a kid that did that. A murder is rare in the city, home robberies are rare too. It is a very safe city in my opinion. The police force is great too. Sometimes too good. A few years back the city was ranked in the top 10 for traffic stops. So watch your speed when traveling through the city, and do not wait to long on a yellow light. If it turns red while you are going through it you are a prime candidate for a ticket. Here is what Livonia is like (an aerial video too)
Excellent city services too. Lots of parks, city ice rink, walking paths, and city recreation center. Good garbage pickup and they even pick up your leaves out of the street. If you have trees in your yard this is great. You just blow the leaves out into the street....no bagging. The city comes buy and picks them up.
