Southfield Relocation

If you are thinking of relocating to Southfield MI what can I tell you about it.  Southfield originally started out as a farming communities.  I had a great aunt that had a farm that had sheep there.  I remember going out with my grandfather to help the aunt as she was up in age.  The farm house still stands next to the Southfield Civic Complex.  She donated the land so others could enjoy it.  They have little garden plots for the residents to raise vegetables.  I believe my Aunt Mary would be happy with what the city has done with her land.  It is quite amazing to see the stark contrast of the old with the new as right across the street is Southfield Town Center high rises.  So you have what once was and today's businesses side by side. The Southfield Municipal Complex is home to the Miracle League Field of Dreams, Michigan's first baseball field for children with a physical or mental disability as well as the Southfield Sports Arena (ice rink and outdoor pool), Evergreen Hills 9-hole golf course, Evergreen Woods Nature Trail, the 25,000-square-foot Southfield Pavilion, and the new state-of-the-art Southfield Public Library.   If you would like a Southfield relocation guide email me at yesmyrealtor@gmail.com

Southfield is one of Metro Detroits business center.  After the 1967 riots in Detroit many business fled the city.  Many big companies found new homes in the growing Southfield community.  Over the years highrises from 4 to 20+ stories were built in the area.  There is not enough to create a skyline, but there areabout a hundred thousand of people that come to these office buildings each day.  Southfield is one of there major areas in Detroit that have a high number of office buildings and businesses.   There is 27 million square feet of office space, more than 9,000 businesses and over 100 “Fortune 500” companies, So if you have a Southfield relocation you will be happy that you will have a short drive to work.

Another great part of moving to Southfield is that Southfield expressway, M-10 and I-696 run through the community.  You can get to Lansing, Downtown Detroit, downriver, or to the east side very easily.  Metro Detroit has a great highway system with freeways criss crossing the area.  If one is slow you may be able to get home another way quite easily.

Southfield is home to more than 71,000 residents from a rich array of cultural, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.  38.73% of adults in Southfield have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree.   As of the 2010 census the racial makeup of the city was 54.22% African American, 38.83% White, 3.09% Asian, 0.20% Native American, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 2.99% from two or more races. 1.19% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The city has about 774 acres of park land, and more than 30 miles of biking, hiking, and nature trails.  Because it is an older community you will find many beautiful tree lined streets that have trees that are over 50 years old.  I would call real estate in Southfield reasonably price. Whatever types of home you want it is in the community.  There are not many subdivisions full of newer built homes as most of the homes in Southfield were built in the 1950- late 1970's.

The Star Southfield Entertainment Centre, the nation’s most visited movie complex, offers 20 screens with stadium-style seating, plus several restaurants.  Northwestern Hwy, Telegrap Rd, and Southfield Road all have many stores, and restaurants to chose from.  Southfield’s wide variety of eating establishments offer the best in Asian, Italian, African-American, Middle Eastern, Jewish and continental cuisine.  Northland Center Mall is a shopping destination located in Southfield, MI.   Macy's and Target is there.
