All about Northville MI

Northville Downs Northville MIIf you are considering moving to Northville let me give you my personal insight to Northville and Northville Township.  Downtown Northville is the center and main attraction of the community.  If you do not know people refer to Northville and Northville Township as "Northville".  Nobody says "I live in Northville Township".  They say they live in Northville.  They are two separate government entities but the locals refer to them as one and the same.

The city of Northville is only 2 square miles in size and Northville Township surrounds it.  Events ranging from outdoor markets to parades and concerts draw in thousands of visitors throughout the year. People gather for events and take a break at Town Square, which has free wifi, tables and chairs set up year-round, oversize games, and a stage.

Downtown Northville is a big draw for many South East Michigan home buyers.  The downtown area is not huge by any means.  Like most of Metro Detroit's communities with downtown areas they are only a few blocks long.  Downtown Northville is a couple of blocks long with a cross street that is two blocks long.  Downtown Northville is a mixture of boutique stores, businesses, bars, restaurants, and coffee shops.

Moving to Northville MI

The downtown area is an active area.  You will see people walking around almost at all times of the day and you will see people most days strolling through town.  I would say Northville is a "little" less active than Plymouth.  Part of that comes from that Plymouth's downtown area is bigger and has more bars/restaurants.

Pooles Tavern Northville MIHowever you will love downtown Northville and all it has to offer.  It has music in the square in the summer, Art in the sun art show in the summer, and the Venetian festival in the fall.  Northville also goes all out for Halloween.  These events draw Northville residents and non residents alike to the downtown area.

Downtown Northville is the center or heart of the town.  Downtown Northville has no big box stores or restaurants.  It is more of a mom and pop community.  For that matter Northville does not have a lot of big box stores.  You will find more shopping and big box stores on the outskirts of Northville.  Along Haggerty Road from 5 mile Road to 9 Mile you will find all sorts of stores, and nationally known restaurants.  I call Haggerty Road restaurant row.  You can find dozens of restaurants of all different types.  Whether you want Asian food, fish, or a coney Island you will find it on Haggerty Rd.

You will also find some shopping and stores at 6 mile and Beck.  You will never be far from all the shopping you need.  If you just head  three or four miles to the north you will arrive at one of the biggest shopping areas in Metro Detroit at Novi's 12 Oaks Mall.  Everything you need is within 15 minutes of Northville.

Northville was first settled by European Americans in 1825, and was incorporated as a Village in 1867. It was not incorporated as a City until 1955. Originally one of two communities within Plymouth Township, Northville Township split off in 1898 to form its own township.

Henry Ford purchased a factory in Northville and moved machinery from plants in the area to the factory in 1919. Known as the Northville Valve Plant, the plant was rebuilt in 1936, and enlarged in 1956. The plant provided valves for every Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicle, except for the Lincoln Continental, until closing and being sold in 1981. The building now houses offices and a health club.

Downtown Northville is a draw for many home buyers because they like to walk to the downtown areas.  You will find many historical homes surrounding downtown Northville.  Many of the home owners have painstakingly restored the homes to their former glory.  The mature trees and beautiful homes add to the charm of the downtown area.

Downtown Northville MIThe Township has all types of homes.  Many of them were built during the building boom in the last 30 years.  You will find many newer brick homes that have basements and attached garages.  Many of them range from 2000 square feet to over 4000 square foot in size.  You will be able to find homes of all sizes from as small as 1000 square feet.

Northville MIYou will also like that Northville is not too far from the major expressways.  M-14, I-275, and I-96 are all close to the community.  This makes it easy to get to work for any home buyer.  Ann Arbor is about a 20 minute ride while downtown Detroit and Metro Airport is only about a thirty minute ride away.

If you are relocating to Detroit you may not know that Northville is considered one of top cities in Wayne County.  For home buyers that work at Ford Motor Company, the airport, or downtown Detroit Northville is a great location to live.  Add in the nice downtown area and the good schools it becomes a nice place to live.  I also forgot to mention that Northville is a safe place to live.  No major or violent crime to speak of.  A safe place to live and work.

If you have a Northville relocation in your future give me a call.  I will help make your next move easier, and whether you are buying or selling less stressful.  I will work hard for you and negotiate so you get a great deal.  Give me a call at 248-310-6239.  You will be really glad you did!
