Downtown Milford runs from W Huron St (General Motors (GM) Road) in the south to about W Summit Road in the north.  N Main Street (Milford Road) is a slow road with a 25 mile an hour speed limit.

Milford MIWhy I love Milford is that it is a bustling downtown area.  There are many boutique stores that people are going into all the time.  There are womens shops, home decor shops, and even a furniture store.  Downtown Milford has many different restaurants and bars.  Some of them are:

  • Red Dog Saloon
  • River's Edge Brewing Company
  • Smoke Street Barbeque
  • The Bar
  • Corattis Italian Food
  • Palate
  • Gravity
  • Novelles Pizza
  • Charlies Still
  • Czapski Polish Food
  • Proving Grounds Coffee
  • Village Pizza
  • Beyond Juice
  • Milford Bakery
  • Main Street Grill
  • The Burger Joint

Downtown Milford restaurants

I have eaten in many of these restaurants and I have never had a bad meal.  Even during the festivals these restaurants and their staff are friendly and try to make your meal an enjoyable experiences.  These are not National chains in most cases.  The owners are usually in the restaurant overseeing the operation.  Trying to make sure every thing runs smoothly.  They have put their heart and soul into their restaurant and it shows.  You will enjoy coming downtown to hang out.

You can get all sorts of food and drink whether it is a donut, bagel, coffee, or muffin in the morning to Polish, Thai, Italian, or barbeque in the afternoon or evening.  This is a reason why I love downtown Milford. What is great is that you can drive to downtown Milford and plan on eating at one place only to learn once you walk in that there is a long wait.  All you have to do is to walk down the street to check out another restaurant wait times. It is the same way with the bars.  You can walk the downtown area to see which bar is active and crowded if you want action or you can find a bar less crowded.

Moving to Milford MI

The Downtown Development Authority has worked hard to keep bringing people into the downtown area.  Some of the events they put on, sponsor, or assist in helping are:

  1. Milford Memories is a huge arts and craft festival that goes on for three days.  It encompasses almost all of the downtown area.  From the park all the way up to Summit street.  There are live bands on the streets, and the businesses have tents on the street.  The road is blocked off to vehicle traffic and Main street becomes a pedestrian highway.
  2. Milford Car Show
  3. Summer Concerts in the Park some very good Metro Detroit Bands
  4. Spring and Fall Ladies night out
  5. The big reveal
  6. Milford Home Tour
  7. Holiday Parades
