I want to explain a little more about Michigan and how I may explain the cities in Southeastern Michigan. I want to give you a picture of what metro Detroit is like. What I have tried to do is touch on what I consider to be the better cities that I work in. I no way want to say that the cities I have left off are bad. They are cities that thousands of people live in, raise their kids in and love. I just geared this website to cities that many of my clients that are moving to Michigan ask me about or end up living in.
Metro Detroit and Southeastern Michigan is a great place to live. There is so many great communities to chose from. Whether you live north, south, or west of Detroit many times it boils down to where you work in Metro Detroit. Even though we have great highways and road systems traffic still can be bad at rush hour. So drive time may be a factor in your choice of where to live. If you would like a Southeastern Michigan relocation guide email me at email@example.com
I want to talk about industrial areas in Detroit and Metro Detroit. As most of you know Detroit is a big auto manufacturing area. However the days of auto plant and other manufacturing plants billowing black smoke are gone. Yes there are a few steel plants in metro Detroit, but the heaviest or ugliest plants are going to be in Detroit. Yes there will be big auto plants scattered around the city, but they have cleaned up their act. They are good neighbors and tend to be well maintained. Most plants are in industrial areas away from the residential parts of the cities. It is rare that you would find homes sitting across the street from a manufacturing plant. Most cities that are on this website either have no major industrial plants or the city has a well defined industrial area. Most Michigan cities now have a master building plan to have the industrial areas along the highways or in specific "corridors' of that city. That makes it nice for home owners because the industrial areas do not have an impact on the home values and yet gives the cities an important and valuable commercial tax base. Cities that have a good industrial tax base many times have great city services.
When moving to Michigan you will learn that besides Detroit we have several other large business centers. What I mean by that is cities that have a large concentration of low to mid rise office buildings. Areas where many national companies have offices. The four major business centers or cities are:
In these four cities you will find many places to seek a job, and thousands of people will drive to these communities each day to work. Of course most of all the cities will have small office buildings, small industrial parks that house engineering firms, or sales companies that do no production at all. These are usually long 1 story office buildings grouped into an area. So do not get scared that you are going to find ugly cities with smoke stacks all over. You won't find much of that in the cities listed on this website. My goal is to provide with some of the best cities to move to in Michigan. Cities that are safe, that have good schools and places other relocation clients have chosen.
So if you are moving to Michigan let me tell you a little bit about what external influences do affect home values. Living near or right close to these features will lower your homes value and make it harder to sell your Michigan home
There are thousands of homes that fall into these categories here in southeastern Michigan. Thousands of people live in these homes and love them. You just have to remember they will be less expensive and harder to sell. Yes there many other external factors that affect price but these are the major ones in southeast Michigan.
Michigan has many desirable cities. Of course like most major cities across the country we have what I call affluent or prestigious cities where the wealthy live or upper middle class live. They are highly desirable cities and home prices tend to be higher because of the demand of the homes. The city may have areas or pockets of very large homes too. In Michigan we have no city that is just all mega homes. Most communities in Metro Detroit will have a range of home from 1000 square foot and up. Ask your co-workers or HR department to tell you about some of the better cities that may fit you and be close to work.
Most of our cities have well defined subdivision or neighborhoods. We have a tremendous park system in the Metro Detroit area. So many of the cities have hundreds of acres of parks, then there are county and state parks too. So many hiking, and biking trails right close by. The opportunity for outdoor recreation is endless. If you love the water you are moving to the right state. Ater all we are one of the states with miles and miles of shoreline.
So when you call me tell me what you are looking for in a home, how far you are willing to drive, and what cities or areas you are looking in. Once you start looking at homes one community may stand out from the rest. My goal is to make your move to Michigan as smooth as possible and to help you find a home and area that you will love for years to come. Metro Detroit is wonderful place to call home.
