Orchard Lake Relocation

The City of Orchard Lake is a small community off Orchard Lake Road that is not comparable to anything else when it comes to natural beauty that is aquainted by sparkling lakes, woodland, wetlands and other beautiful features. The Village of Orchard Lake is located in middle Oakland County in a small exclusive suburb of Detroit. If is what I would call an affluent suburb. The population of Orchard Lake is 2,215.
You will find beautiful luxury lakefront estates on both Orchard Lake and Upper Straits lake in the village. Some of these homes are over 10,000 square feet in size. Orchard Lake Village started as a lake getaway area. You can still find small lake cottages still standing. Orchard Lake Village was started in 1927, but it has a history of some of the great western soldiers and indian chiefs. The history of Orchard lake is a long and interesting one. Before settlers, the area was inhabited by Native Americans who would hunt and fish along the shores of the lakes.
They would visit Apple Island in the middle of Orchard Lake. Historians believe the Chief Okemos was born on Apple Island. In 1877, the Michigan Military Academy was opened on the shores of Orchard Lake, and it became known as the “West Point of the West.” In 1879, William Tecumseh Sherman gave his famous “War is Hell” speech before 10,000 people at the site. Over 2,000 students attended the school over the years.
Orchard Lake Michigan is among the wealthiest communities in the nation. Orchard Lake Village's main drag is Orchard Lake Road which provides the opportunity for every kind of experience imaginable. Go south on Orchard Lake and you will have all the shopping and restaurants you need. From there you can head to Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. If you have the desire to indulge in more shopping or fine dining food you can head to Troy or Birmingham. Just take Orchard Lake over to Telegraph and you are on teh way to Somerset Mall in Troy or walk the vibrant downtowns of Birmingham and Royal Oak. If you head north on I-75 you canr attend a Pistons basketball game in Auburn Hills, rock out a concert at DTE Energy Music Theater, Meadowbrook, or Freedom Hill. There is and never will be a shortage of entertainment when you live in Orchard Lake. By living in Orchard Lake, you will have easy access to many highways and freeways. Telegraph Road, M- 59, and I-75 are all just short drives away which will in the end make your commute back and forth to work much quicker and easier. If you are relocating to Orchard lake you are more or less moving to a lake community. Yes there are many homes off the lake, but it a community full of mature trees and mixed neighborhoods. You are not going to find subdivisions of similar size and style homes. Old lake cottages have been torn down to build nicer and newer homes over the years. There is approximately 802 households in Orchard Lake. Orchard Lake has a total area of 4.12 miles, 2.44 miles is land and 1.68 miles is water. So it is a smaller community and it feels that way.

If you love fishing you can catch Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Hybrid Sunfish, Northern Pike, Tiger Muskellunge, Yellow Bullhead, Black Crappier, Green Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed Sunfish, Walleye, and Yellow Perch. Orchard Lake is also known for its recreational activities, such as swimming, boating and water skiing. Upper Straits Lake is also partially in Orchard Lake Village.
Orchard Lakes home prices are not only a part of the most expensive homes in Michigan, but Orchard Lake real estate continuously ranks among the most expensive in America. Orchard Lake is known as the white-collar city, 95% of the workforce are employed in white collar jobs, which are well above the national average. In conclusion, Orchard Lake is full of Managers, Sales and office workers and professionals. There are also a lot of people who work in management, sales jobs and healthcare.
Orchard Lake is a great place for families with children to conside rrelocating to when it comes to decision making and life changes. If taking a job in Oakland County then why not enjoy the lake life style or at least be able to enjoy the views of a lake. Many families that live here have children, which make Orchard Lake a place where both you and your children can develop social ties with other families. The city’s great public education and high percentage of college graduates makes for an environment induced to academic values. Orchard Lake’s crime rate is lower than the country’s average. As in any other small town, Orchard Lake does not have a public transportation system that people can use for their commute. If you have children they will attend the West Bloomfield School District, which is an exemplary School District. West Bloomfield spends $12,844 per student. The average school expenditure in the U.S. is $12,435. There are about 28.8 students per teacher in West Bloomfield School District. They are known for their Athletics, GPA, Extra-Curricular Activities and high test scores on the MEAP, SAT and ACT’s.
