Is Farmington MI a nice place to live?

Downtown Farmington shoppingSo what is Farmington really like?  I am sure you have done a little research on the city and read all the stuff that you can find on the internet.  If you are moving to Farmington or Oakland County you want to make sure the community is what you and your family wants.  A place that you and your family will feel like you fit it.  You may not want a pretentious community full of very, very wealthy people when you are just an average white collar person.  You or your kids may not want to feel pressured to "keep up with the joneses".  Nor do you want to move into a low end community with lots of crime or poor schools.  You will want to move to a community that people are like you.

That is what I try to do.  I try to provide you all the information to make a smart home buying decision.  I want you to be happy in your home for years to come. So is Farmington MI a safe and good place to live?  I used to live a few miles from downtown Farmington in Livonia.  My wife and I used to go to dinner downtown Farmington now and then.  We also used to go to Founders day which had all sorts of activities and a good sized craft show.  Downtown Farmington MI is not a big downtown area.  It is not like Plymouth, Milford, or Rochester where people go for the evening or afternoon.  I would say it is not a "go to" downtown area.  There are not that many stores and restaurants to be a major draw to outside residents.

Most of the bigger downtown areas sometimes have 5-10 restaurants and bars to go to.  Farmington is a little smaller.  Quaint, small and a hometown feeling.  It is only about 2.7 miles in size.  So it is not a large town like Dearborn or TroyIt is surrounded by Farmington Hills, except for a small portion bordered by Livonia to the south.  You can get to many of the expressways very easily from downtown Farmington.  Within 5 - 10 minutes you can be on I-96, or I-175, or I-696.  From these expressways you can get to anywhere in Metro Detroit.  Grand River cuts thru the community.  You can go all the way to Lansing or Downtown Detroit via Grand River.  Sure it make take you a will but it is the scenic route with so many sights along the way.

Downtown Farmington MIWhat is Farmington MI like?  You could say it is a little like a Hallmark movie.  A little bit of the old hometown downtown area, mixed with the new.  It is a small community with strong bonds.  They are continually trying to make the community better for both residents and non residents.  It is a nice little town to live in.  It has the coffee shop and has restaurants to walk too.  Even the grocery store and post office is right down town.  It's bigger than a "Cheers" type of town where everybdoy knows your name.  However it is not a huge city.  You can get involved and make a difference.  There are many organizations, places of worship, and clubs to be part of.

Would I say it is different than your home town or from where you live now?  I don't think it is.  It is a safe community.  NO gangs, no abandoned drug houses, no criminal element controlling or roaming the streets. Farmington MI is a safe town to live in whether it is just you or you and your spouse, or you and a gaggle of kids.  They will be able to walk out your door and you will not have to worry about them coming back home safe because of bad things outside your door.  Farmington has been a very safe community for years and years....I think it will continue to be that way.

Farmington is a place that your home should increase in value because it has low crime and good schools.  It is a town people want to move into.  It will be that way for years.  Farmington is a mixed community.  Most races, religions, cultures are represented here.  It is like metro Detroit....becoming more diverse over the years.  The children that live in the community will go to Farmington Schools.  A good school system that teaches and prepares your kids for life after high school and provides a solid basis so they can go onto college.  I hope this answers your question of "what is Farmington MI like".  I gave you my unbiased opinion of what the town is like.

Farmington MI

I would recommend to any client looking to move to a nice suburb of Detroit that has good schools, low crime, affordable housing, and has easy access to freeways so you can get to work or to anywhere you want to be. If you are moving to metro Detroit the city will have everything you are looking for.  If you are looking for a good full time experienced realtor that knows how to negotiate then give me a call.  I will give you all the information about our local communities so you can make the best decision for your family.

Best real estate agents in Farmington MI

Here ia a couple of testimonals from my past clients.

When I was a first time home buyer in 2012 I was new to the in's and out's of real estate. Russ took all my questions, concerns, and frustrations with the home buying process and made me feel comfortable. In 2015 when we decided to sell our house Russ was the first person we called. Our house wasn't an easy sell due to the size, however Russ was able to get us a great offer and made sure the process was smooth from start to finish. I always recommend Russ to anyone going through the home buying process because of his knowledge and professionalism. Once you buy or sell with Russ you become part of his Real Estate family and he does everything he can to help make your buying/selling experience an enjoyable one.

Russ helped sell my home within a few weeks of it being on the market. Not only was he able to sell it quick he was able to get the amount that I was asking. Russ also helped me purchase my new home. He met with us to review our wants and needs. And by the evening he was send us home to rank and view on his website. By the following day he had already schedule home viewing based off your ranking. We viewed several homes. Although we were picky Russ always remained professional and responsive.  After a few week of this Russ call me one day and said he had a home he would like us to visit. We did and I'm proud to say that we purchased that home and have been living in there happily since August. I have and will continue to refer Russ to my friends and family.

Russ is a excellent realtor and professional in every way.  He managed the sale of our house from preparing it to look as good as possible before any showings to the close.  He also recommended a handyman who completed all of the projects required at a very resonable cost.  He also managed all of the buyers concerns throughout the process so that the closing was on time and went very smoothly.

I highly recommend Russ to anyone making a real estate transaction.
